2021 Coaching Hot Seats

One hot seat this year in college football is....

Nebraska.

Not to much of a surprise here and but honestly, many believed this was a great hire by Nebraska and one that would result in a turn around for the program. I believed that too and it is sad that it didn't happen because football isn't the same when Nebraska, USC and Texas aren't as relevant.

Frost will be let go in a year or two from Nebraska and Frost will be looking for a new job soon. There are two options I believe that would be good for Frost if he becomes a head coach after Nebraska. Houston would be the top option. Similar to UCF in that its a smaller D1 school in a great location and is a perfect fit for his offensive scheme; great recruiting options and could be on the verge of joining the Big12. The other option that could be a stretch would be Memphis; Memphis is similar as well with being a smaller D1 school but the location could be hard to recruit to. Your key targets would be kids in the SEC location that just miss the physical SEC requirements to play.

For my second hot seat, here is a surprise that you may not think of for Nebraska to hire in place of Frost but someone I have thought about for several weeks. Nebraska could be a great fit for Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh's seat is getting warm at Michigan and even though his buyout is large, it may be do able in a year. Coach Harbaugh was successful at Stanford and I truly believe he was because of the limits on the players that could be recruited to Stanford. Due to grade requirements, Stanford will not always get the best players every year and thats just a fact; yes they will get really good players but not top players year in and year out. Michigan could get almost any player they want because of their name and it almost seems like Harbaugh stuck to his ideal player profiles for each position a little too much, causing them to miss out on some great players. A place like Nebraska could be a great fit for Harbaugh due to its location and its small midwest country view. Harbaugh brings a power run-play action offense and Jim has hired some great Defensive Coordinators in the past that all would be great fits for Nebraska.
